A few quick announcements about the field trip tomorrow:
- The cost is $13. I apologize for the confusion about the cost. It was stated in the newsletter and not the permission slip!
- Don't forget to pack a sack lunch!
- The weather is supposed to be quite warm, please dress your child accordingly. It may be a good idea to apply sunscreen before they come to school :)

Thank you, thank you! I cannot tell you how appreciated I felt all week long! I don't know what made me cry more, the letters from students or the letters from parents. You all have made my first year of teaching such a positive experience. I am very lucky to have such an AMAZING group of parents to go along with my wonderful kindergarteners! A million hugs and "thank you's" would never be enough :)
We're learning all about story elements! This week, we focused on characters. To help wrap our minds around what a character is, we made a few character maps. Mo Willems is one of my favorite authors and the kids love him too! We used his popular "pigeon" character as a way to get our brains thinking about how to describe characters. Here's a snapshot of what we came up with! We are now getting our hands on all the "Elephant and Piggie" books we can to help make character maps for those two characters as well. Make sure to check out our "Room 210: Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the _______" book and our "Favorite Character" book!
How can you join two pieces of wood together? You can nail it! We got a chance to practice some good woodworking skills this week, nailing and staining. There were a few crunched fingers and a few painted hands, but overall they had a ton of fun experimenting.
WOW! Our "All About Me" books are hot off the press! I cannot believe how much they have grown as writers this year. It is truly amazing to see the great work that they are producing. Way to go kindergarteners! I have created a writing wall at the end of the hallway to show off their awesome work! Come by and take a peek at a few of their published pieces!
