We learned all about STORY ELEMENTS! All week long we have been planning our new fiction books. We have thought of the characters, setting, problem, and solution! We are now ready to start writing our books! We have come up with some great pieces so far, and I can't wait to read their final products!
As the year is coming to an end, we are all noticing just how much time we have spent with each other this year. There is no better time to remind everyone what it means to be a good friend and what little things we can do to make someone else's day. To help us start thinking about how we impact each other, we read the book, "Have you filled your bucket today?" and discussed all the ways that we could become bucket fillers. After we read the book we made our own buckets and wrote down ways that we are or can be bucket fillers everyday! Remind your kindergartener that I am going to be looking for examples of bucket fillers all week long!
We are making time in our week to share "quick news." This snippet of information can be anything that they would like to share with the class. It can be something they're excited about, one thing they did over the weekend, or any little piece of information about themselves. It is during activities like this that I have to stop and just look around at all the wonderful faces in the room. It is remarkable to see their personalities beaming just by sharing a piece of news. I think we can take 10min away from our packed day to just sit and listen to each voice in our room. I truly love being able to step back from the circle and see them engaged in simply listening to one another.
