We're leaning all about what makes a great story! We have been using the book "Ladybug Girl and Bumblebee Boy" to help us identify the characters, setting, and plot of the story. Our last box to fill in is the "grand ending" which usually includes some sort of "solution" to the problem that occurred in the story. This has been a great way to anchor their understanding of the different parts of a story. Next week we will begin planning out our own fiction stories. We will go through every story element and come up with a plan for each before we begin writing!
We went on a field trip to the Burke Museum! It was a nice sunny day to walk around UW and have lunch in the quad. One of the highlights was definitely visiting the reading room in Suzallo library, which looks remarkably like it was plucked out of a Harry Potter movie. Riding the school bus was also a moment of big excitement!
We made kites with Ms. Meg in the art studio! We tried our best to get them flying high at recess!
