Even if we can't read the words in some nonfiction books, we can still learn from the pictures! This week we dove into the nonfiction books in our classroom library to see what we could learn. These books were not at our just right reading level, but that definitely didn't stop us from learning a ton. They have been loving being able to share what they have learned with the class.
Here's a glimpse of the pets we have in our room! I remember back to one of the first weeks of school when we made a "How we get to school" bar graph. Their understanding of how to read a graph and compare the data has grown quite a bit! Talking about how many more or how many less people have _____ than _____ can be a tough concept for kids to grasp. After some examples and probing questions, most of then nailed it!
We spent the morning doing some fun stations and then for choice time we settled down to watch some Planet Earth clips and enjoy a fun snack. From the mouth of Ms. Sadie, "This is even better than the last party!" I am glad to hear that they had a good time.
